Lastlook DSQR Studio

Installing

Five minutes, once.

Install it on the machine you edit on, paste two keys, and Lastlook lives in Premiere from then on. You never install it again, it updates itself.

  • Premiere Pro 2022 or newer
  • Mac or Windows
  • Internet, for the install
  • Terminal, for one paste on Mac
What you downloaded 12 KB

Open the folder with your computer's name on it. That is the only choice you have to make.

01 Install the panel

Mac

macOS

  1. Open Terminal. Press Cmd+Space, type "terminal", press return.
  2. Paste this one line and press return. bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://qc.dsqr.studio/install.sh)"
  3. Wait for Installed, then press return to close it.

Why not just double-click it?

Because macOS blocks it. Anything downloaded that Apple has not notarised is stopped on first open, and since macOS 15 the old right-click trick is gone. A pasted command is not blocked at all, which is why it is the route above.

If you would rather double-click Install Lastlook.command in the Mac folder: press Done on the warning, never Move to Trash, then go straight to System Settings, Privacy & Security, and scroll to Security. A line naming the file appears there with an Open Anyway button. It only shows up for a short while after the block, so if it is not there, try opening the file again and come straight back.

Windows

Windows 10 and 11

  1. Unzip the file you downloaded. Right-click it, Extract All. Running it from inside the zip will not work.
  2. Open the Windows folder.
  3. Right-click Install Lastlook.bat, choose Run as administrator.
  4. Wait for Installed, then press Enter to close it.

02 Restart Premiere, properly

  1. Quit Premiere completely. Not just the project window. Mac: Premiere Pro menu, Quit. Windows: File, Exit. Premiere only looks for new panels while it starts, so this is the one step that cannot be skipped.
  2. Open Premiere again and open any project.
  3. Then go here: WindowExtensionsLastlook
  4. Drag the panel wherever you like. Premiere remembers.

03 Two keys, once

Licence key

Emailed to you. It proves the tool is yours and puts your name in the panel.

LL2.eyJpZCI6Ikx…

No key? Claim one here.

API key

Free, one minute, no card. This is what reads your captions.

gsk_XXXXXXXXXXXX…

console.groq.com/keys, then Create API Key.

  1. In the panel, open the Settings tab.
  2. Paste the licence key, then the API key.
  3. Press Test key, then Save. Both fields collapse to one line once saved. Use your own API key, never a shared one: the free allowance is per account, so a shared key runs out for everybody at once.

04 Your first run

  1. Open a sequence that has captions.
  2. Press Run Lastlook. It saves your project first, on purpose: it reads the saved file, so without the save it would be checking yesterday's words.
  3. Click any result to jump the playhead to that exact word.
  4. Fix what needs fixing. Lastlook never edits your captions for you.

Reading the results

Markers land on the timeline in the same colours

RedA definite mistake.

YellowWorth a look.

BlueIt could not tell, and said so.

A row marked both was found by the text check and the audio check independently. Those are the most reliable of all.

05 If something goes wrong

Lastlook is not in the Window, Extensions menu

Premiere was not fully quit. Quit the whole application, not just the window, then open it again. This is the cause almost every time.

macOS says it "could not verify" the installer

Normal, and nothing is wrong with the file. From macOS 15 onward, anything downloaded that Apple has not notarised is blocked on first open, and the old right-click trick no longer works.

Use the Terminal line in step 01. It is one paste, it is the same installer, and a pasted command is never blocked.

If you want the double-click to work instead: press Done, never Move to Trash, then go straight to System Settings, Privacy & Security, Security. A line naming the file appears with Open Anyway. It is only there for a short while after the block, so if you see nothing but the "Allow applications from" dropdown, the moment has passed: open the file again, then come back.

It says it could not download the panel

The installer fetches the panel from this site. Check your connection and try without a VPN. On a locked-down office network, ask us for the panel folder directly.

Nothing happens when I double-click the Windows file

Use right-click, Run as administrator, on Install Lastlook.bat. Not the .ps1 beside it.

It says captions need Premiere 2022 or newer

Older Premiere stores captions in a format this cannot read. It tells you instead of reporting your video clean, which is the part that matters.

Still stuck

In the panel: Help, then Report a problem. It copies your versions, your settings and the last error, and opens an email to qc@dsqrstudio.com. Paste it in and send. It carries no caption text.

You never install it again

The panel checks for a new version once a day and offers it with one button. Your licence key, your API key and your run history are all kept.
